When the Otakus cry 萌え!

Chicken pie. Look at all that golden goodness~! Yum.

Finally finished the semestral papers, so I'm assuming I have a coupla weeks before the results get posted. Shall let ya know how one can fare while catching up on the SaiMoe Tournaments. Both SaiMoe Japan and SaiMoe Korea ^^;
IMHO, the Korean tourney is definitely much much easier to vote (heck it takes only a minute of using your mouse, tops) SaiMoe Japan takes a coupla of hours to generate a code, and you are of course encouraged to post a moe-bun (why u love the girl so much) along with the authentication code. Personally I've never been able to try that as my IP is blocked. If I'm not wrong the SG range of IP addresses are probably blocked.
Some advice from Omo on how to vote if you can't read Japanese or if it's the first time you're partaking in SaiMoe.
Regular updates on SaiMoe Japan in English by Kurogane.
Unofficial English bracket of SaiMoe. An excellent site I'd say.
FYI, the SaiMoe Korean rounds starts 10PM local time and ends 9PM the next day. Check the timing for the round though, cause I'm not very sure if the timings will fluctuate.

Personally for round E-09, my <3 goes to Eika Ichijou from Sky Girls. (of course!) Sky Girls is one of the better mecha + bishoujo series airing right nao, and I'm totally smitten with Eika. What's better than a h4wt tsundere in a flying mecha? Then again Takako seems to be doing better than Eika orz This calls for the Eika <3 Legions! Folks, if you read this post and liked Eika, please cast her a vote, NAO.

BTW, something seriously wrong I spotted at SaiMoe Korea. WTF IS JUN WATARASE DOING THERE?! Compared to him, even the random grandmother from somewhere seems justifiable. But thanks to him, we've seen a broken record. The only male in SaiMoe. *shudders*

p.s. Dan Dan Dan is a friggin addicting song. It's stuck in my head ever since Haruhi stood on my desk. Geesus.

LeWt@KKnM Part 2

Haven't got around to finish going through my loot from yesterday's CharaFest, and the digital camera was giving me headache. So this post is somewhat delayed... orz

Excitingly brought from yesterday's battleground:

Assortment of stuff, Konata Telephone card, Haruhi Mobile Cleaner, Haruhi Telephone Card, Shana Mobile Cleaner, Shana Stick-on Mousepad, and a Kanon brochure.. of sorts. (DVD Kanon Vol.8 out!) But anyway, Haruhi/Shana <3

Hayate no Gotoku Clear Poster (bottom right). It alone wooped my wallet upside down. Well I don't care when there's such a lovely Nagi taking up half of the poster. ^^; Just to let you know, the Hayate no Gotoku Stick Posters and the Futakoi Clear Poster aren't from the CharaFest.

Haruhi Deskmat which I don't dare put on my other desk in case my laptop melts it. Okie I suck. Picture courtesy of KKnM, if anyone noticed. XD

Clear A4 Files. From left: Shana eating melon-pan (ahh the moe-ness!), Hayate and Maria, Shana in swim suit (nosebleed!). Top: Shana (again!). I think it explains what tsundere is. Slap you first then kiss you. Savvy?

The back of each files. Guess which is which? ^^;
Rumours have it rogues do it from the side, or even in the front. But bear in mind, rogues do it from the back. =/

Haruhi Telephone Card again! Beside is the Gothic Lolita Ver. which Krono wanted. I prefer Haruhi climbing outta the card though ^^;

Pencil Boards! From left: Shana (tsundere!), Hayate no Gotoku! (Hinagiku FTW! :3), Tora Dora featuring Taiga Aisaka. Top: Gurren Lagaan which Krono wanted too.

Not loot for the CharaFest, but I'll put this anyway. I got this ef Clear Poster today. First time I saw this I mistook her for Eruruu orz

Definitely not mine. Bleach Whiteboard which I helped buy for Krono, who helped buy for his imouto-san.

Courtesy of Shan who got himself a Kanon shirt today. No idea why he likes a girl with little wings that fall off trees so much. Taiyaki anyone?

Briefly on our crusade on that Saturday. Friday night was spent in a lan shop at Katong. Of course dinner was Katong Laksa <3. After which Krono and Zen spent the night at my house. Didn't really sleep much that night. I was WoW-ing while Zen glued himself to Tiberium Wars. Krono was playing random games before knocking himself out. Supposed to wake at 4 but... I could only manage 5.30am =/ Alas! When Krono and I reached at 8 in the morning, I could already see a bunch of people. The security there wasn't happy with a bunch of otakus clogging up outside KKnM, so he told us to stay quiet. Or we leave.
After the arrival of the KKnM-keepers, we're given number tags (I'm 4th ^^;). When we're finally let in at 11.30, chaos ensued! A friggin long queue for non-members and you can almost feel them glaring down at you when your shopping list is being filled =/ True enough, I failed to procure the All Around TYPE-MOON Clear Poster Set, supposedly shared by me and Shan. orz I should have taken a leaf outta bj0rn's book and come at 10PM. Yes you aren't imagining things, bj0rn camped around there starting from 10PM w00t
More details of his raid here : http://bj0rn.animeblogger.net/
Heh managed to get most of what I want myself. Then today I just realised I left out the Haruhi HP Screen Protector zomfgwtfbbqgodzilla. Hopefully KKnM can help me keep a lookout for it. ~_~
Something else to add on, SaiMoe 2007 is blazing with showdowns between the moe contenders. Web: http://animemoe2007.hp.infoseek.co.jp/
Personally for today I'll be voting for Kagamin and Shiori. Oh wait. I forgot I can't vote! zomfgwtfbbqgodzilla orz this sucks. IP got blocked. Any advice on how to bypass their proxy blocks? RAWR.

p.s. For your information, folks, ODEX just lost to PacNet, twice. This is gonna be a strong case in which to present your defence if you ever want to sue ODEX ^^;
Moar information @ http://www.xedodefense.org/
Now I'm off to be troubled by today's semestral papers =/
Vote for Shiori and Kagamin!

Lewt@KKnM Part 1

CharaFest@KKnM! Pardon my lack of creativity for putting this pic up repeatedly orz

Back from KKnM, worn out but armed with various merchandise from the CharaFest. I'm going to go take a break before returning with a more detailed post ^^;

p.s. These few postless days was due to the fact I've been busy and lazy, with my semestral papers continuing to hound me.

Baka ribbon!

SaiMoe 2007

It's awesome. I have my first of my semestral papers today and I haven't study abit. Instead I was watching *er-hem* till early morning.

Another thing to add is the annual SaiMoe Tournament! I'm kinda lazy to go dig out the tournament schedules so you'll might have to make do with their official site, though it's pretty confusing until you get to the part on the preliminaries schedules.
Official site here:

Moar on the ODEX hubbub.
An awesome local animator made this, it's a must watch for all anti-XEDO :P
Spotted @ http://sgcafe.com/showthread.php?t=36607

Stuff from the Odex Revolution blog:

http://odex-rebellion.blogspot.com/

Newspaper cuttings and scans taken from... er.. was it sgcafe or hardwarezone? Anyone who knows please correct me thanks =/

Burn his house and beat his mother! Now where's the originality in that ^^;At least ODEX doesn't have control over the newspapers. Otherwise it's the end of the world already. Or is it?SingTel just has to give in that easily... eh? That probably just shows the lack of privacy. And the lack of people defending it.

Once again I know this has link neither with anime nor ODEX but, to hell with that.
A roffling youtube vid that I just can't resist putting here. Reminds me of what we went through (for all those who POP-ed last year). Nostalgic =/

p.s. btw did I mention to SUPPORT the Black Ribbon Project? ^^;

Disclaimer:
The clips, blogs linked are in no way representatives of my takes on the ODEX issue. Any doubts just tag and I'll see what I can reply. That's if you're Steven Sing, or not.
Pictures and videos are not done by me. The XEDO clip was by NCH (you can find moar about NCH at the sgcafe link). Any claims of authorship of the media used in this blog I'll be happy to credit to.

p.p.s Certain censors and edits are probably attempts for this poor blogger to remain safe from the dark reach of XEDO, though no one is safe at this point of time. Ya no one. May Haruhi bless us all ~_~

CharaHobby 2007

Taken from lolcats.

Chara Hobby 2007! I would love to go.. but... well... I've got semestral exams coming up (excuses) so I can't >.<
http://www.dannychoo.com/blog_entry/eng/1050/CharaHobby+2007/

Pretty stuff all around, look at all those towels o.o Personally I wouldn't want towels over figurines but well it's just another point to add. Nothing you can buy here in Singapore. Perhaps except from KKnM. Oh and I think they went to the CharaFest to get stuff back. Hope they get enough to go around... The day they get back and open for sales will be the day of chaotic otaku-ism ^^;
Charging up my moolahs in preparation for the massacre NAO.

Ok another something from the godly internets

http://bertc.com/sexlaws.htm

These are some of the weirdest law made by people who have nothing better to do. Well there was another list of weird and lame laws, and one of them being Singapore's ban on chewing gum ^^;
Here is a list of the world's most ridiculous laws...

http://www.news.com.au/sundaytelegraph/story/0,,22261278-5012895,00.html
- In London, England, wife beating is legal just as long as it is not after 9pm and it doesn't disturb the neighbours.
Wow? Talk about MCPs... Chow on it =/

Art

This is some awesome stairs. Work of art. Ok it doesn't really have anything to do with what I'm gonna post, cause Odex sure as hell ain't art.

From ANN:
Odex Pte, the Singapore-based anime licensor and distributor, has won court orders against two Internet service providers to require them to release names of customers who allegedly download without authorization episodes of anime series that Odex has licensed.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2007-08-15/court-orders-singapore-isps-to-name-illegal-anime-downloaders

From I.Z.Reloaded:
http://izreloaded.blogspot.com/2007/08/downloading-anime-may-not-be-illegal.html
http://izreloaded.blogspot.com/2007/08/hardware-zone-forumers-expose-odex.html

http://izreloaded.blogspot.com/2007/08/odex-wins-suit-against-starhub-and.html

This is sick. People watching anime for entertainment purposes get assraped by Odex. You see, when the demand > supply (it's almost as easy as ABC), alternatives would definitely appear. For me, regrettably, I have bought the complete set of Gundam SEED anime. And I can tell you it definitely sucked through and through. The video quality is horrible, the subs were not fully visible at times, and the dubs gave me the creeps. What's more is that their releases are usually years after the vintage date in Japan. Though it may appear piracy is rampant, but rather than thinking of it as piracy, the local anime fans, through fansubs, had contact with more anime than the old ones released by Odex. If not for the fansubs, certain businesses that specialises in anime imports would probably never have survived. Cosplayers don't get no motivation to cosplay with they end up watching shit-quality animes with censorship all over the place. Yeah, there are Singaporeans who take part in the Cosplay Summit ya' know.

HOWEVER, if Odex comes up with pretty decent products, perhaps there might be some people who would accept them as alternatives. (Come on, the Yellow Project isn't for nothing)
Many other anibloggers would have mentioned or raved these things previously, but its irresistible for pure-blooded-animeloving-singaporeans to take these lying down. I pretty much hate this monopoly as well. Especially when Singaporeans are guaranteed no-quality products.

Just in case people ask, yeah I watch anime. But I'm pretty sure at this time Claymore isn't licensed.

p.s. For those who would want to know what Odex is,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odex

you could visit their website to learn more about them, their company policies, and their active involvement with the local anime community here:
http://www.odex.com.sg
And no it's not your imagination, the two words existing on their website reflects that their attitudes are totally awesome.
Under construction.
